Let's Have Ourselves a Little Contest

Well, as anyone who reads this blog already knows, I'm IMPATIENTLY WAITING for September 5. And as anyone who reads this blog also already knows, September 5 will be one of the greatest days of the year, because the SOONERS hit the field down by Dallas to make lunchmeat out of *BYU.

*Note: I kept spelling "BYU" B-Y-E because, hey, I want to be waving bye-bye to them at the end of the first quarter. Or maybe at the end of the first minute. It's all good. I ain't lyin' and I'm just sayin', Lorna Doone (this girl will get that joke).

But back to the business at hand.

In the comments, tell me what the final score of the OU/BYU game will be. And for a tiebreaker, tell me how many yards passing will be credited toward Sammy Bradford on that day.

Results will be tabulated, uh, from the final score, and if the tiebreaker is necessary, from the stats from the OU website. I'll contact the winner on September 7.

Now, it is acceptable if you pick BYU to win the game. However, it will be greatly frowned upon by management.

I bet you wonder what you might win.

It will be more than braggin' rights, but less than a fabulous vacation. It will probably involve crimson and cream. I just haven't decided on exactly WHAT it will be. But you know EVERYONE needs some crimson and cream. Heck, since I know most of the people who read this blog, or at least feel like I do, I just might pick out "sumpin' special" just for them.

Note to those who've already told me their prediction - it doesn't count, you've got to put it in the comments here. Come on, you can do it.
Your prediction has to be posted in the comments by noon on September 5, if you were thinking about trying to pull one over on me..... NYET!

15 Comments:

  1. OU: 46, BYU: 17 Bradford 280 yards. Keep the prize. Give it to somebody that would display it. I'm just saying... ;)

  2. These throw away games always rattle me because corches do not want to give away too much against teams that really do not matter.

    Let's go with Okie 38 BYU 10. OU's passing yardage 215.

  3. Paul makes a good point. That is one reason I only put OU at 46.

I have consulted the crystal ball (the one that LSU obtained against some team from the Big 12 back in 2004...can't remember which team right now), and I see clearly that OU will come out shaky, and BYU will come out with steely-eyed confidence.

They're Mormons after all, and ain't afraid of nothin'...I'm just saying.

OU will flub a couple of kick returns...Bradford will throw a pass directly to a BYU safety, because he is the "most open" man on the field.

BYU will cash in on a few cheapies. But eventually, Corch Stoops will gather the wagons. It will be close at halftime (OU: 7, BYU 10). Severe shame will sweep over the Sooner locker room. All of the opening day game jitter demons will have been exorcised.

The second half will be a massacre. A punt return for a TD, an interception returned for a TD, Bradford will get in his groove. BYU will do their best against an over-matched squad...but the "crimson" will rise to the top.

    Or the "cream," whatever...

Now that you know EXACTLY what will happen you don't even need to watch the game.

I want you to send my prize to Tracy. Even though I am one of the world's most noted experts on college football...he is a real hero, and deserves it. And being a tOSU fan, he needs it.

  4. Andy, did you just call Tracy a bad word? That is UNnice.

  5. Paul, I just call him "Bucky", which I believe is better than "Nutty".

And Andy, I am glad everafter that I can take the evening of Saturday, September 5, off and watch some "Reba" reruns. Thank GOD!!!

  6. Staci, did oyu just say that you were NOT going to watch the game?!?!?!? Blasphemer!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Staci, don't bother to thank me. "Reba" reruns will do quite well. Ya' know...I actually met "Reba, 'fore she was Reba." It's a long story that I will not bore you with.

Pay no attention to the man behind the pink guitar. Go ahead on and watch Reba. His "blasphemer" comment is blasphemy itself. There is no SEC team involved in said match-up...so, you shall be forgiven.

I'm about to change my mind on this. Even though I love and respect Tracy, I might want you to send my prize to that Mitchell guy. He just loves him some OU football...

Dangit! When is September gonna be this year?

I'm takin' the red at 52 and that other team (who are they, again) at oh, say, 18. I don't anticipate "Corch" (?) to come out with anything but fabulous, because he knows, I'm sure, that you and I have been waiting all summer, playing silly farm games and stuff just until FB gets here. And I'm thinking Sammy will be spectacular and throw about 102 yards.

Got to tour "JERRYLAND" a couple of weeks ago while in Dallas to see the Rangers. The stadium is very impressive and will be a fast track for the SOONERS. It will be pretty much a home game for us and be a national broadcast(it does't get any better than to see the SOONERS do there thing in high definition). Bad thing about that is we have to listen to the BS from the ESPN announcers.

I agree with the SoonerScoop bloggers that this could be the best team Stoops has had since coming to Norman. They have the # 1 rated defensive line, #1 rated backfield, and #1 rated tight end not to mention last years Heisman trophy winner.

I also think the offensive line and the wide receiver corp is severely underated.

Can't wait for the October 17 beatdown of the texas longwhorns and their cast of whiners.

    "BOOMERSOONER"

OU 49 byu 22, SB 378 yards passing

    GREAT BLOG STACI

We'll be cheering as loud as we can here in Texas, you might even be able to hear us if you listen real hard.
