I have come to the conclusion that there's nothing "lite" in the news anymore. Another day, another bailout. Now I get to pay taxes so that the people in the 500k homes can not pay their mortgage for 6 months. Joy, I tell ya, JOY! It obviously doesn't behoove a person to pay their bills anymore, because if you just wait around, the government will pay them for ya! I'm getting sick and tired of being sick and tired hearing the latest BIG PLAN by the Washington elite from every news station, even the local ones.
I'd watch Nickelodeon but they've drank the Kool-Aid too. Obviously. They're giving Arms Obama an award for her "work" in childhood obesity, and Obama himself and the Mrs. are up for an award on the "Kids Choice" award show. Cutest Couple. Really!?!?!!!
A couple of days ago over on the Facebook, I clicked into some group that asked FBer's to be a fan of "Repeal of Healthcare" or something along those lines. Shortly thereafter, one of my FB "friends" commented to me that "she is Canadian, and she gets free doctors, free medicine, free surgery". Her last words to me? "You are an idiot".
Well, as she is a friend of a friend, the six-degrees-of-separation thing, she will no longer be found in my line-up of friends. And since I can be rude and hateful as this is my little blog, I should also mention that she has long yellow hair with about two inches of black root rot, a fake spray-on orange tan, and has been a waitress in a pub for seven years. Can you say AMBITION???? Evidently that is why Canada needs the government healthcare.
Yeah, probably wasn't necessary to run the poor gal down.
Andy brought up something that I hadn't thought of, but he is spot-on. The new tax-on-tanning IS racist. White people are the only people who go to tanning beds. White people are the only people who are going to be taxed. Taxation due to skin color. Or lack of color to your skin. Or trying to get some color on your skin.....
Here's a quick update on the work situation. The legislature gave the agency I work for a small supplemental budget - enough to postpone furloughs for the rest of this fiscal year. However, over 200 employees were "retired" - some of them didn't want to be retired - and those jobs can't be filled for at least 18 months, if ever. If the jobs are left open, then some money can be recouped or saved. The budget situation for the next fiscal year and probably for years after that looks grim, and I've been told that we'll furlough at least one and probably more days per month, beginning in July and ending.... never.
I think they might just close up shop on a Friday or two each month, with only absolutely-essential employees working (we are a 24/7/365 agency). Those employees who work on Friday furloughs will be on furlough status on a different day. I also think additional employees will be "retired" and HOPEFULLY there won't be any reduction in force measures. They can furlough me as often as they have to, as long as I don't have to hit the street, ya know?
About 50% of similar state agencies across the nation are in as bad or worse shape budget-wise, so it's sort of a crowded boat we're riding in.
But you know what? All in all - it's been a great day! The sun was shining, the Oklahoma wind was blowing its usual 40-mile an hour self, and the iris that I dug up from the abandoned house down the street before it sold, and transplanted to my yard, is blooming. And Friday night is the Criminal Minds marathon.
Man, my life is complete!
Staci, I'm glad you had a good day, kiddo. I know, it's as frustrating as the warm place to face the news.
ReplyDeleteAs to State Agencies in free-fall...well, my big brother is in the same spot as you.
But, he's a true contrarian that has been saying for years that his department could do MORE with about half the staff. Well, he's got his wish, and things are rocking along just fine. But, he's about to explode over Obamacare, the direction of the nation, etc.
I've got some The Facebook "friends" that I probably should defriend...but I don't go on it often enough to get ticked at 'em. As to your Canadian "friend of a friend,"...well...she don't know the Canadians I do. They are screaming bloody murder at US for ever letting this mess get as far as it has.
70 degrees here...everything's blooming! Gonna be a glorious weekend. You have a good one.
We were having that same talk here last night about paying our mortgage AND paying taxes to pay other people's mortgages. Aargh! There is a good post here http://gutsywriter.blogspot.com/ about the news we get in the U.S. compared to how it is delivered other places in the world. Enjoy your sunshine, Staci.
ReplyDeleteStaci - this is a fun post. As dead-serious as you are about everything you wrote, I tag you a talented humorist.
ReplyDeleteI've never worked for a state agency, but from reading the outrageous Tulsa World, I see that Stimulus funds gave now-gone-Tulsa-Mayor-Kathy Taylor, a stimu-basm that at least lasted her out of the office. Now Tulsa is dealing with the fact that the funds are gone. Our police have had a roller-coaster ride.
I'd like to know under what authority Obama can order mortgage companies to do anything. If this country doesn't man-up, it will be the time for a serious tax revolt. We can do it. As Sarah said today, Time to Reload, and she wasn't talking about violence.
May your JOY and mine get real:-)
It obviously doesn't behoove a person to pay their bills anymore, because if you just wait around, the government will pay them for ya!
ReplyDeletePersonal responsibility is seriously out of style with the powers-that-be. It's the modern day equivalent of "bread and circuses" and will have EXACTLY the same outcome. I weep.
Staci - GREAT RANT! It's time to separate the wheat from the chaff - left from right - good from evil - they drew the line in the sand and it's time to choose sides - I have a few leftist friends on facebook and am about this || close to deleting them. Capitalists and socialists will never see eye to eye.
